Default I found an external filter for my trans.

Am I having another senior moment? I dunno'. Did you guys know there is an external filter for the transmission on Pilots? I didn't.
"03 & '04 filter is a disposable cannister type. The '05 & up is a cartridge type under a cap. It's located on top of the trans. just under the ABS unit.

Think I'll change it.

From looking at the 06 service manual the trans filter is only accessible by removing the transmission and opening the case.

I'm not convinced it isn't removable w/o removing the trans. When I get some time I'll make an attempt to change it. Removing the trans. on a Pilot requires taking the P/S rack out with the cradle. Sounds messy. The '05 & up have a different filter, maybe harder to service. Mine is the cannister type.

Sorry, no pics.
It isn't hard to find. Look forward of the fill plug, next to the ABS pipes.

For model year 2003-2004 Pilots, the ATF Filter part number is 25450-P7W-003. Cost is $ 33.68.

Go here ( http://www.bernardiparts.com/PartSearchPage.aspx ) to look at the difference between 03-04, 05 and 06-07 filter. You will find that 03-04 is external, 05 is a cartridge in a housing on top of the AT while 06-07 are in a house under the AT.

Not specified in the schedule. Looks don't need change. Should be helpful to change it (at least won't hurt provide installed properly).

I'd like to see an actual pic of the external filter for an 05' model, just like what pilotjorge provided this forum for the 03' and 04' models.

05 filter is an internal cartridge. Haven't heard of an external unit.

Internal or external whatever!
I just want to see actual pics of the 05' filter!
The illustration on the Bernardiparts.com doesn't help much!
