Default Am I behind schedule?

Looking for some advice on my personal maintenance plan.

I am currently approaching 36K miles on my '04EX. I just brought it in last week for my 30K service. After reading various threads on the 30K service and realizing how a lot of it is unnecessary and costly "inspecting", I decided I wasn't going to pay the nearly $400 price tag so I decided to go a la carte.

To date the following have been my only major service items.

@20K - VTM4 fluid was replaced
@30K - new tires (Goodyear Fortera) and wheel alignment
@36K (last week) - engine air filter and transmission fluid replaced

Here's what I have planned for Feb 2007 or 40K miles , whichever comes first:

Rotate Tires
Wheel Alignment
Brake Service
Replace Cabin Air Filter
Replace VTM4 fluid
Oil Change (I usually get this done every 5K)

Does this sound about right?

I wish there was a category between "NORMAL" and "SEVERE" maintenance schedules (perhaps "MODERATE") because I fall somewhere between these two extremes according to the owner's manual description. I just halve the difference between the mileages to determine when I need to get something replaced.

I change oil every 5,000 miles also, I too, fall between severe and normal. The only difference for me are:

VTM-4 15,000 miles
Transmission 40,000 miles
Cabin Filter every 15,000 West Texas is very dusty.
New tires at 66,000 miles

Have followed this schedule for 70,800 trouble -free miles in the 03 Pilot so far.

The wheel alignment at 40K may not be necessary since you already had one at 30K. Just check the tires for uneven wear.

Honda recommends the first VTM at 15K (for Normal) and the next at 30K verses 20K and 40K.

If the engine air filter was dirty when you changed it at 36K, check the cabin filter since mine was pretty dirty after 2 years.

In addition to the standard Brake service, I would recommend flushing the brake lines at Feb 07 as well.

Regarding the brake service, what exactly really needs to be done and what price tag am I looking at?

Regarding the cabin filter, I just found the DIY instructions today, ordered the filter, and plan on replacing it this weekend hopefully. Seems pretty easy to do and it will save me $100.

I was late as well. Car just turned 20k miles. I did the VTM-4 change Oil change (about 5k with Mobil1) and drain and filled the 3.8 quarts of trans fluid. I am planning to do the trans fluid the next 2 oil changes.

Cheers
