I just tried to change my brake fluid with my Motive pressure bleeder. I have used this for years on my Volvo with the threaded european adapter cap without problems. So I got the Motive 1101 adapter kit for Hondas, to fit the '04 Pilot. This is the cap with the J-hooks, wing-nuts, and chain. I was not able to get a good seal on the fluid reservoir. Kept getting air leaks while doing the dry pressure test. Tried for about a half-hour.
Has anybody used the Motive bleeder on their Pilot? Any tips for getting a good seal? I had the rubber cone in the cap, pointed down. Had the chain very tight, but was scared to really crank it down for fear of cracking the reservoir. On a related note: Dont wait the recommended 3 years to replace the brake fluid- it has been 3 years since we bought the Pilot. The fluid in the reservoir was dark and lots of sediment in the filter screen and at the bottom of the reservoir. Also noticed condensation (water?) on the reservoir cap- so it was obviously past due to be replaced. I'm doing it every 2 years from now on. Thanks for any tips on getting a seal, Dave |

Replying to my own post here...guess I'm not the only one to have problems with the Motive bleeder. I think I'll try this modification:
