I'm sure what Scoobs was trying to indicate was the results of the SEARCH function. You might give it a try!

This is the only thread dealing with the subject matter " Rear Wiper" when you perform a search. I'm looking for an exact answer as none were found doing a search. Hopefully someone will answer the question in detail so the task can be accomplished .

If you have the refill ready to install, lift the wiper off the rear window, with thumb and forefinger grip one end of the old blade and pull it gently until the end is above the small tab holding it in the arm. Once above the tab, carefully pull the blade and metal stiffeners out of the channels of arm. Reuse the metal stiffeners on the new blade. Install by starting one end of the blade into the channels on the arm and continue until the opposite end is past the holding tab. You're done. If you want to see a drawing, the 2005 owners manual shows a blade replacement for a front wiper, but does not clearly show the rear.

My original link was active when it was posted back in march of 2006.

Today I typed in the words "rear wiper" and got one hundred and ten hits ( 110 ) ? I'm not sure why other posters search didn't work for them

Default Aftermarket refills not available?

I may have missed the answer, but here goes the story / question:

I was recently on a mission to replace the rear wiper, and thanks to this group I have dutifully done so with ANCO 14NR for the last couple of years. Well, I needed a new pack (as my wife's '04 Quest uses the same type of refill thereby depleting my stash, and I just couldn't find any--anywhere (AZ, AAP, NAPA, Wally World). One of the employees at Autozone told me they are no longer available. In my moment of despair, he went to the back and found 2 packs of the NR-14's!!! I bought those, but really don't know what I'll do the next time around.

So the question part is....Does anyone have a workable suggestion as to what to use if these blade refills are truly no longer available? Or am I missing something altogether? (please don't say OEM as I know I can do that, and I don't want to argue with people, I'm just looking for non-OEM alternatives)

Thanks, ahead of time

Ted

I had a hard time finding refills as well. Just went OEM because I was tired of looking and refused to buy a whole new wiper.

More than one way to do this. The Honda refills dont include the metal stiffeners. Aftermarket ones do. More places are getting out of the refill business, so sometimes you have to buy whole blade. As someone else said, just pull the refill away from the blade enough to clear the tab on the end of the blade and gently pull it out of the blade. The best replacement I have come up with is to buy a refill (Trico best ones) of the same type and cut the stiffeners to size with a Dremel tool. Then, cut the rubber to size with snips, razor blade, whatever. If you get a 28 in refill, you can get two for the price of one - just cut it in half. Also, Trico is now selling "Break to Fit" refills where the stiffeners are scored in one-inch increments and you can break them with your fingers. I recently used them to replace the longer front one (driver side). Note that the pass side is a narrower, and shorter refill. If my memory serves, the rear one is the same type as the drivers - just 10 inches shorter.

Good information nighthawk. I actually rep Trico and thanks for plugging it.
For those interested in the 28 inch refill it is part Trico# 45-280 or Carquest # 455-280. We make 2 break to fit refills, one is 6mm wide and the other is 8mm wide. The 6mm is 47-600 (Carquest 457-600)and 8mm is 47-800 (Carquest 457-800)

Thanks!!

Reviving a thread from almost a year ago....

Went to Autozone today and bought a duralast complete arm/wiper assembly ( $6 ). It was the 14" size and I just used my locking vice grips to gently 'wallow' out the slots on either side of the mounting pin.

No rain yet, but I'm sure it will do just fine as it sits flush with the rear window..

You can sort of see what I mean by 'wallowing' the openings out a bit. Notice how they bow outward?

Notice how snug the Honda arm fits into the metal frame of the Duralast?
