Greetings ... first post, so forgive anything that's a dupe (I tried searching, but came up empty).
We have a 2005 Pilot, and yours truly did a dumb thing and backed it into a garage door. Thankfully the door was nearly up, so just the housing for the high-mounted brake light was damaged. I'm planning on buying the service manual for the car shortly, but I was hoping someone might be able to provide some instructions on removing the housing. From looking at the new part I have on hand, it seems to mainly be held on by clips, but before prying too much, I wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something. Thanks; -rob. |

I'm having trouble picturing in my mind what you're describing. The high-mounted brake light is integrated into the tailgate spoiler. What's busted?
See the parts list at Majestic Honda, where I pulled this illustration. The lamp is item 1, and the whole tailgate spoiler is item 27.

If you're talking about just the high mounted brake light, it's held on w/two stainless screws. They are under the triangle end caps that appear to be part of the lens. These caps can be hard to get off, & sometimes break in the process. Look close, you'll see a small slot to fit a screwdriver into it.
If you mean the entire spoiler, it has clips & nuts. Remove the round, black plastic caps to locate the nuts.

Taking the spoiler off is quite ez. I know you've probably done it already but just in case you haven't - Once you lift the back door up just unscrew the three bolts holding it on (10mm socket wrench should do it). The middle one (under the plastic cap) needs a socket wrench extension to remove.
Also, I called the dealer and priced just the brake light part of the spoiler (red plastic, bulb, screws, caps) and it totaled $103!! Can you believe it! They want $85 for that red plastic piece! Even the parts guy was laughing at how ridiculous the stealerships are.My wife did the same thing you did,. I ordered a spolier but unbenounced to me the brake comes seperately. If anyone knows where I can get the brakes parts, cheaper of course, please send me know. shu_dog@hotmail.com Cheers! Shu
