Is there any difference between OEM and genuine parts? I have bought some OEM parts from Ebay and they have very poor quality.

I like the Honda brake pads (seem to do a good job, don't squeal, and last a long time), but I think the Brembo rotors are are better for less money.

Try tirerack.com for the rotors.

(Sorry Tim)

Excuse my ignorance, but aren't OEM and "genuine" parts one in the same?

Not always. I grab the following from another http://www.devek.net/index.php?page=nfo_pro_stock. Just replace Porsche with Honda

1. Genuine Porsche® – Also referred to as "factory parts", Porsche has approved these parts as meeting the specifications as defined by factory engineers. This could mean a particular rotating balance specification (as in a clutch), a corrosion standard (as in a brake rotor), or a resistence tolerance (as in wire sets).

2. OEM Parts – OEM stands for Original Equipment Manufacturer. These parts are manufactured by the same company that supplies Porsche. However, the specifications are not required to be the same as Genuine Porsche Parts. For example, clutches sold by Sachs are not balanced to the Porsche specification, clutch master cylinders do not use the same quality seals, brake rotors lack the specified corrosion resistance and balance, and on ignition wire sets the resistence may be out of specification.

3. Aftermarket – Aftermarket parts are replacement parts that are not made by the original equipment manufacturer. DEVEK manufactures an “aftermarket” radiator - it is not OEM or Genuine Porsche.

That is not to say the Genuine Honda parts are better the OEM and OEM parts are better than Aftermarket. In some cases, Honda parts are the best choice (e.g,. VTM fluid, tranny fluid, coolent), however, there are very good aftermarket alternatives for brakes, rotors, shocks, etc.

Hey, NOOb, I was just asking a simple question without being sarcastic, it was a legitimate question. I always thought they were one in the same. Glad we have some civility on this board. You make N_Jay seem like a Saint!

Nope!

There are times what I say is OPINION, and therefore may not be "right" (while still not being "wrong")

I know you left leaning folk have trouble understanding how opinion differs from facts. Just like you have trouble understanding how something could be found to be wrong later, and still be the best choice at the time.

(and lest not even get into the whole "lie" thing)
