I have a simple question.
How to remove the head light covers (plastic??) to access the inside so that I can replace the bulbs???

Thanks...

Open the hood, and access the bulbs from there. Then follow the instructions in the owner's manual.

You shouldn't have to remove any covers to replace the bulb. You simply pull back on the electrical connector, remove the rubber weather seal, unclip the hold-down wire, then remove the bulb.

It explains it in the owner's manual.

Lightbulb

Thanks Jay!
I will give it a shot.
By the way, I just bought Sylvania Silverstar bulbs. I hope they last a while.

I installed a set of Silverstars on my GS-R. They lasted only about a year. I ended up putting the original halogen bulbs back in, and they're still working (10 years old).

I decided that Silverstars weren't worth the price if they only lasted that long. I also didn't think they were that much brighter than halogen... just whiter.

sjlee,
Thanks for your feedback on silverstars. Since, I have not opened up the box, I am seriously thinking about returning them.

You are probably better off just buying the Philips 9003 XV (XV=extra vision). Cheaper than the silverstars.

I liked the Silverstars okay, but the Extravision's were okay too, and had a much greater expected life span. The Silverstars did have the "whitest" looking light, though.

I guess, I am too lazy to go to walmart and return my silverstars.
I installed the silverstars just now and thanks to jay, sjlee and wwongs detailed instructions with pictures (in another thread), it was a breeze.
Its still day time, but I will give you guys and update once I wander out in my Pilot at night time.

Thanks once again guys. This site rocks!!!

I don't think Philips makes ExtraVision bulbs any longer. From their website, it appears that the equivalent to Silverstars is CrystalVision.

Here's a link to the thread where I compared the OEM, Silverstar and Xtravision bulbs.

And here's the link to wwong's thread where he documents, with excellent pictures, how to replace the headlight bulbs.

My bad! It was the Sylvania 9003XV, and not the Philips. Kragen sells these. You can also go to their website:

http://www.partsamerica.com/ProductL...chfor=Headlamp

It sells for $11.99 vs $24.99 for the 9003ST (Silverstars)

Nice job with the pics on the different bulbs. I think you came to the same conclusion that I did... that Silverstars aren't really much brighter or illuminate farther than OEM... just whiter/bluish.

What kind of lifespan did you get out of the Silverstars... I didn't see any follow-up posts regarding this?
