I'm looking to have a 60,000 mile service done within the next few weeks. I picked up this service schedule from Rosenthal Honda, a dealer in Tysons Corner, VA. They offer a severe schedule due to all the stop and go traffic in the D.C. area. The price quoted is $465 minus 10% since I'm a new customer to their dealership. Any comments?

just follow what the owners manual says... not what the dealer says...
stop and go traffic is does not make for severe schedule ...just follow Hondas recommendation

Just sent you a PM. Avoid Rosenthal; they do not have a good reputation.

Their maintenance menu for 60K mile service and the corresponding price they quoted even with a discount is a big time rip-off!
You don't need all this 40 service items for a 60K service. I find it hard to believe that despite the 40 service items listed under their severe maintenance schedule for 60K and for the amount of money you'll be paying ($465.00), replacement of the vt-m rear differential oil and replacement of the a/c pollen air filter are not even included. As most of us here in this forum would recommend, just refer to your owner's manual and have any reputable dealer or independent honda mechanic perform what is required per schedule, no more no less. Your Honda Pilot will just be fine.

So out of all that crap in the PDF they are really only going to be doing the following things that are of value:
Oil Change Air Filter Fuel filter break fluid ATF fluid Rotate tires Spark plugs (don't need to be replaced at 60K as I recall) What they are NOT doing that they should be: VTM-4 Cabin air filter As a zillion others have said, just get done what is in the manual. -D |

The Pilot does not even have a replaceable fuel filter! It has a screen-like filter integrated to the fuel pump assembly in the tank. Just another crap in their menu.

Reading about these kind of rip-offs really gets me going....
$400 plus for an oil change, a car wash, and a quick look over by the tech. If they can find anything else, they charge extra..... like "dirty" VTM fluid etc.... RUN!!!!

I'm also approaching this service (currently at 56K) so I called my local stealer for a price and got one about the same as squeeze was quoted ($450 in my case). Because I didn't have the little sheet in front of me that they give you that lists what they do for this particular service, I asked the advisor to tell me what they were. What I found really funny is how he had a hard time just reading them off to me, it was obvious he knew that I was thinking what an absolute crock it was for them to be charging so much for what they claimed to do. When he mentioned the "31-point inspection", the way he repeatedly stressed how they look at EVERYTHING, trying to make it sound more palatable, was a hoot. You gotta laugh to keep from crying.
