Default scanning 2006 owner's manual?

I was thinking about scanning '06 owner's manual + Navigation manual.
If I do, who should I give it to for posting as sticky?

Does anyone have a website that they can host it on?

Why?

You will get the manuals if you buy the 06 model. Right? Why do you need the manuals if you don't have the car?

Service manual may be a different story.

I'd be very grateful if someone scanned the manual. It's more convenient to read it online and print certain, necessary, information than to constantly refer to the paper manual which may not even be available if my wife has the car.
I download the manual for everything I own, when possible. Watches, GPS, power tools, cameras, etc. The files don't take up much space and I find the text easier to read on my monitor than the paper version.

'cause we have all the years of manual on this forum from 03~05, right?

I actually was waiting for my '06 to come for 2 weeks. I was eager to read my owner's manual but nothing is available on the Internet.

Back in '05 model, ppl on this forum even go together and donate money to buy '05 manual and put it on this website I believe.

I actually also would like to see if anyone is interested in buying a '06 service manual together so we can all have service manual on the forum.

A lot of other cars have service manual bought together by members from the forum and benefit all the members.

I bought an 05 service manual from HELM. It was about $75 a copy. I thought about scanning the whole book and put it on our forum. I changed my mind later because the book is almost 3" thick and all the sheets are double-sided. The paper is so thin that you can not use the autofeeder to scan the pages.

come on, few pages a day would get the job done.

Or use digital camera to take picture of it.

I would definately appreciate the 06 Manual be scanned and put online, I could have used it a couple of times. Ecpecially since there seems to be quite a difference between the 05 & 06.

If this is accomplished please let me know,
Thanks

I just bought my first Pilot, a 2007 LX. I have been searching for the '07 manual online and I found this thread. Actually a scanned version of the owner's manual is of little use to me because it would not be in ASCII format. In other words it would not be SEARCHABLE. I saw the '05 scan job here and it is probably a TIFF file which means it's just a digital picture of the manual pages, ie, unsearchable.

I'm surprised Honda apparently does not have its manuals on the web. That is truly backwards thinking. Many other companies put their manuals on the web. What is Honda protecting??? Industrial spying???

If you really want a useable version of the manual, you would first scan the entire book into TIFF files and then tediously run those files through an OCR program to generate a text file. Of course Honda could just post the book instead of trying to make money off print sales.

Just my 2 cents

I have no idea how long this'll be available to everyone (I'm guessing they'll password protect it evenutally), but, here's the '06 Owners manual already scanned in (along with the Navigation system too!).

There, I just saved you an afternoon. That'll be one cup of coffee please .

You can use this link to get manuals for many other year Pilots and other Honda models too!

Later,
Larry.

Thanks Larrys, I downloaded both of the '07 manuals and they are searchable. You just open them with Adobe Acrobat Reader and you can search for anything you want like 'fuse, or fluid capacity.

I'd be happy to buy you coffee.... in CT that is :-)
