Default is there any mileage schedule for checking wheel alignment

I am buying new tires for my Pilot (it has 45K) using the OEM Goodyear tires. I am buying Michelin Cross Terrain's. I have searched the website for alignment advice on when to do an alignment check but found nothing on this issue for my case. I am not experiencing any perceived issues relative to the car pulling, vibrating or alignment-induced tire wear.

Just thought it would be an opportune time to do a 4 wheel alignment check. The downside is I believe the check will reveal I need an alignment (the check is free).

Should I bother or just wait for an alignment-related issue to occur first?

I'm not aware of any mileage or time-related recommendations for wheel alignments. I also don't see a reason to have one done if you're not experiencing any problems.

You can buy an inexpensive tread-depth gauge at the auto parts store -- they're only a few bucks. If you measure each tire at several points across the tread, you'll be able to determine if you're experiencing any abnormal tire wear.

In order to get the tire dealership to honor any warranty claims down-the-road, you may have to get an alignment at the time of installation.

4 wheel alignment is just one reason for you to spend more and getting your tire out of spec if it didn't have any problem at all. when I purchased my A/T Revos they were surprised to see my GY Integrity still with 1/3 thread left at 68,000 miles. If they think I need an alignment, I don't think it should have lasted that long (68,000 miles!).

As the saying goes....."Don't fix it if it ain't broke".

If you never had alignment problems then you're fine.

Even if its part of the tire package, reject it like it's a virus.

My story.....

I replaced my GY Integrities with the MCT's a year ago.

The tire shop performed a 4-wheel alignment as part of the package.

Thats when my nightmare started.

The Pilot started to slightly drift to the left, sometimes to the right.

Worst, I started experiencing the dreaded vibration problem.

The tire shop said it had nothing to do with the alignment.

They insisted it was a radial pull which was a normal tendency of the Michelin's.

To make a long story short, the tire shop replaced all the tires with another set of MCT's. But to no avail.

I brought the Pilot back to my Honda dealer and they too could not figure out what was causing the vibration.

I decided to bring the Pilot to a wheel alignment specialist for whatever its worth since I was already getting desperate.

The new alignment showed that the specs of the previous alignment was way off.

My alignment is now perfect and best of all, no more vibration.

However, if you know and trust your wheel aligner to be efficient and reliable then by all means have the alignment checked once you replace all 4 tires.
