Default 1st Brake Job at 33,600 miles

Just took it into the Honda dealer for the brake job. I could feel something different when applying the brakes and a slightly different noise.

All new brakes and rotors turned cost me $385.00.

Both, I waited for it to be done and it took about 4 hours. (but I did get to watch the space shuttle go up on the t.v. while waiting).

He just had rotors turned. My infamous 01 Impala had rotors turned at 15,000, front AND rear replaced at 30,000, and turned again at 48,000.

But hat about the Jag? I know, I know ... Yeah, I read that too quickly and missed the word "turned." But still, I'm wondering if that's normal for the Pilot?

When should one (on average) replace the brake pads? (Please don't tell me to read the manual--I prefer human interaction.) If one replaces brake pads on time, I'm still thinking the rotors shouldn't need to be "turned" that early. But what do I know?

It's going to vary widely due to a number of different variables - how you drive, where you drive, pad thickness, weight of vehicle, etc. Comparing the Impale-ya to the Pilot is apples to oranges. SUVs tend to go through brakes a little faster than your average passenger car because of the weight. Automatics go through brakes faster than manuals too.

36,000 miles for a mid-size SUV is pretty good IMO.
