So, back around maybe 30k miles I had the Pilot at the Honda dealer for the cabin filter and I asked them to check into the flickering Brake idiot light on the dash.
I thought the Service Writer understood what I said although he wrote "check brakes" on the invoice. Well needless to say when I picked up the car the SA recommended rear brakes and the idiot light still flickered. Thanks for nothin'. I took the Pilot to an Independent mechanic for the rear pads and he claimed he filled the reservoir and that was the problem with the idiot light. ....well for a little bit anyways. Pretty soon it started again. Now at 45k miles I found out that the local Acura dealer would take the Honda Pilot in for Service. I had them do the VTM-4 and the Trans. Fluid and they found that the cap of the brake reservoir, which has a float, was stuck. New cap, $40 and problem solved. I found the Acura dealer to be a world better than the local Honda dealers. -Eric |

I find Acura dealers to be better than most Honda Dealers, too! Must be that Acura dealers pay their technician's more per hour and Acura's because of price have a higher income customer base that requires better overall service?

Our local Honda and Acura dealer are owned by the same individual. I've owned both and found that the Honda dealership far surpases the Acura dealership for service experience. Go figure........

Thank You for your post. I was doing a search because I am having the same problem. Glad to know that it just needs more fluid, even though I checked and it appeared to be near the full line. It is just about three years old and I will be taking it in to have the brake fluid changed.

does anyone know how to disconnect the two wires on the brake fluid reservoir cap? I have read a few post where the cap went bad, and was thinking about changing the cap out. The rubber on the wires is brittle Thanks
I got it looked confusing but they just pull out. |
