Question Which Oil Filter?

Hi,

New to this site and new to the Pilot as well. Which oil filter do you guys suggest? Genuine Honda or somthing else?

I'll be switching to mobile 1, once the break-in period is over.

Thanks,

rlilly

Wix and Napa Gold are pretty popular filters as well as Mobil 1. I think the jury is still out on whether OEM filters are the way to go, but I wouldn't mind using them. It was stated in some threads that the OEMs were made by Fram ! Anyhoo, I have yet to change my oil in the Pilot, but in my Tacoma I use Mobil 1, OEM or Amsoil oil filters.

Question I just noticed ...

In the 2003 owners manual, they recommend changing the oil filter every 15K mi., rather than with every oil change at 7500.

http://hondapilot.bkwon.net/manual/2003/Images/p274.jpg

Did they miss a dot in that column? Why would anyone bother to do that? It's not worth the savings and you're leaving about a quart of dirty oil in the filter.

Yeah... i think it'd be pretty stupid to change the oil and not the oil filter.

I have a stash of the old style 305, (larger), eom Honda filters. That's the filter my 2004 Pilot had from the factory. When those run out, I'll be looking for a quality after market filter, (Purolator, napa gold, m1). I'm not impressed with the tiny new Fram filter that's now OEM.

As of late, Ive been recommending the pure one filters. You can usually find them at advance auto parts. Right now, I think its the best filter made for the Pilot.

Happy Piloting All,

BTW, you can also get them at Pep Boys and they are made by Purolator. Good stuff

Excellent choice! NAPA FILTERS ARE THE BEST! They are made by WIX and if you search the net you find that they are one of the Best filter you can buy, period. Maxima.org ( since I own a Maxima too) recommends the Napa Gold filters. My dads Mazda 626 ran off of Mobil 1 and Napa filters for 18 years and 285,000 miles till my brother hugged a tree with the car. I will be out of the break in period soon and I will USE AMSOIL AND NAPA GOLD FILTERS, BOTH ARE PROVEN LEADERS AND SCIENTIFICALLY BACKED!
