Default rear wiper

I finally figured out how to remove the rear wiper yesterday, but I have two problems:

1) I was under the impression that the rear blade should 17" long (when I was ordering online). When I compare it to the factory wiper, it is longer by about 1" on each end. Is this OK?

2) I can't install it in the same slot on the wiper arm as the factory wiper was installed. That's because the part of the wiper where is snaps in place is perfect cyclindrical, whereas on the factory wiper is flat on one side, not to mention its thicker.

The new wiper won't hold in place. Did I get the wrong type of wiper? Has anyone purchased a particular brand, model, and size such that it was a perfect fit?

You might try a search. Here is at least one thread on the subject of replacing the rear wiper.

Also moved thread to "maintenance".

colorider,

I did a search (before I posted) but could not find an answer specific enough for my question. The link to the thread that you provided was specific to the actual blade inserts. I want to replace the whole blade.

I generally always try to just replace the inserts if possible since so many of the after market blades seem to be cheap knock-offs of the OEM blades. Only exception would be if I were installing winter wipers and in those case, I would re-install the OEM blades come spring.

Good Luck!

Default Here's how I did it.

After searching for an answer to the question "how do I change the rear wiper" I came across this forum. It was all good information. I was so happy when I finally worked it out that I posted the solution on youtube.
If it's allowed to add links on this forum, this 1 minute video might answer a lot of people's questions. If it helps, let me know.
