Question about extended warranty - Honda Pilot

I remembered coming across many posts here about Hondacare extended warranty. My vehicle now has 23800 miles and would like to purchase the 6/100 before the vehicle gets to 24k.

I remembered reading many folks purchased it from Dick Brooks Honda. For those that purchased Hondacare thru them or Curry Honda I was wondering if you had to verify the milage on the vehicle. If so how did you verify, by taking it to your local dealer? Any comments would be appreciated.

I think, they only need proof of actual miles if you're between 36K and 42K and wanted to get the extended warranty.

I guess that since no one has answered the question that extended warranties are a total unknown when it comes to a major claim.

Do these sponsors ever long on to this forum? Or are the links for advertising, only? I would like to hear from someone that has had a major claim with an 'extended warranty'. I might be interested in buying one...I'm still in the window for such a purchase but I can find nothing in the way of useful information. The only stories I have come across amount to a customer having to go to war against the dealer or insurance company and I'm sure there is more to it than just bad news all the time.
