In looking at my 2005 Honda PIlot Service History Book I noticed the following:
Oil is required to be changed every 7.5K but oil filter is only required every 15K. VTM fluid is changed at 15K, then at 30K then every 30K there after. I am not sure why there is 2 changes in the first 30K of miles. Trans Fluid is changed at 45K,75K,105K,120K,135K I am not sure why the 1st change is after 45K then every 30K until 105K. Then they sugest on changing it every 15K to 135K, but don't list this fluid changing at the 150K service. So you would conclude the next change after 135K is 165K since it is not listed at 150K (book only goes to 150K). |

Oil changes at 7500 miles are probably ok if you use a good oil but there is no way Id ever go 15K on an oil filter. In fact, Id probably recommend changing the filter half way through the 7500 mile interval.
I think you can buy supertech filters at walmart for $2.07 so why would you want to save money on something as important as a filter in order to save $2.07. I recommend changing the filter at 3750 and then adding another quart of oil to top things off and replace the oil lost when you change the filter. I replace oil filters between oil changes all the time. Happy Motoring All, Bugshu
