Hello everyone,so in yesterdays "Drive" section of our local Edmonton Journal there was a report about Honda acknowledging that the oil filters in the CRV's were poorly designed and made ,they allowed engine oil to leak therefore causing fires,i guess now they send notices to all 2003,2004 and 2005 owners to come in for a free oil change and a newly designed (.....sourced....Fram ????) oil filter,i wonder if it's still made by Fram ?,can someone let us know if the new oil filter is a Honeywell (the owners of Fram group) filter,it should say it somewhere on the can.

As far as I have heard the defect was due to an unapproved change in the gasket material, not that they were "Poorly designed or made", and I have seen no reference to FRAM! Tis issue has been well covered in the CRV forums.
