Default Coolant

Hello all,
This is my first post (just became a member a few days ago) and I thought I would start my "posting career" off with what I hope is a simple question to answer.

The '04 owner's manual says you should only use Honda coolant (other brands are ok in an emergency). My question is do any of you use anything other than Honda coolant and if so, have you experienced any problems?

Looking forward to being part of this great group.

Very few people with new Hondas seem to need to top up the coolant.

Since it has a 10 year life, I would certainly top it up with either distilled water or Honda premixed.

If I was changing it, probably any silicate free, long-life coolant made for aluminum engines would be fine.

I always have my pilot serviced at the dealer, so, I think they fill it up with their own stuff. who knows it can be prestone or havoline or honda

In my new car(s)I top off with the honda pre mix to avoid any "issues" I have heard about sludge from mixing differant types of coolant.
When I flush and fill with my other Honda's I use any long life silicate free coolant.

Default Thanks

Thanks for the advice. I plan on buying some coolant from the dealer and simply keeping it on hand for whenever I need it.
