Default Backcountry Adventures in S. California

Last weekeend I took my pilot for a backcountry adventure in Southern California. I wan to try out the offroad capabilities of the pilot so I bought a book on the backcountry adventures S.C.

I took the easy trail for my first try. The Trail is call the Santa Clara Divide Road (aka Santa Clara truck trail) 3N17. It was 30 miles long with 15.5 unpaved road.

The pilot handled the trail really well. All I need now is better tires to try harder trail.

Cool Al! Your front bar and rear bumper guard look good! I've only seen one other Pilot around here with a brush guard (only once - havasu blue with chrome front bar and chrome taillight guards). How far is that road from downtown? Was it as scenic as it looks?

Road is in Santa Clarita. You exit Sand Canyon Road from the 14 and go south about 6 miles. I like the view from the trail. It is a great drive but little long. it took me about 2.5 - 3 hours to finish the trail.

Yes, They seperated California into 2 parts. Northern and Southern.

Backcountry Adventures: Northern California takes readers through 2,653 miles of backcountry, from coastal redwood forests to the peaks of the Sierra Nevada. In addition to detailed trail information, there are hundreds of photos of frontier towns, mining camps, old stagecoach routes, wildflowers, and native animals. Trail history comes to life with tales of lost mines, accounts of outlaws like Black Bart and Rattlesnake Dick, and stories from the early days of California's gold rush. Contains 152 trails, 640 pages, and 678 photos.

Backcountry Adventures: Southern California provides 2,970 miles of routes that travel through the beautiful mountain regions of Big Sur, across the arid Mojave Desert, and straight into the heart of the aptly named Death Valley. In addition to the enormously detailed trail information, there are hundreds of photos of frontier towns, historic mining camps, old railroad routes, wildflowers, and native animals. Trail history comes alive through the accounts of Spanish missionaries who first settled the coastal regions; eager prospectors looking to cash in during California's gold rush; and legends of lost mines still hidden in the state's expansive backcountry. Contains 153 trails, 640 pages, and 645 photos.

That'd be great if they did it, literally. One can only dream. Anyway, I think I'll head out that way in a week or two and drive the Santa Clarita trail. Looks inviting.
