Default EXL-Nav search in So. Cal, the offers are coming in...

Hey everyone out there...I've finally started my search for my Piolt. I've sent out an internet request for a EXL-Nav in silver and I've received the following quotes:

Pacific Honda - $32,860 plus tax and license

Tipton Honda - $32,790 + destination charge, sale_tax, dmv. and documentation.

Hoehn Honda, Carlsbad - $32,995.00 plus tax and license

Any Cali pilot owners out there, please let me know if you think these quotes are about what I should be expecting. Thanks...

I purchased my Pilot almost a year ago. I too looked here in SD first but found better deals up north. I ended up buying at Penske Honda in Ontario (east of LA). Did all my research via web/email and got a good no-haggle price up there. It may be worth the 2 hour drive.

I got mine from Poway Honda at $32,870 + destination charge, sale_tax, dmv. and documentation (and lots of accessories) last November. I simply chose the closest dealer.

I had a great experience dealing with Mike Tognetti and Richard Mogg at Goudy Honda in Alhambra and would do business with them again.

Oh, almost forgot, if you like dealing with big time a-holes, be sure to do business with Blaine Gray at Robertson Honda...

Here's a link to my buying experience.

Buying experience in Los Angeles

I paid $30210 plus tax and license for the exact same model you are look for except it's a 2003. Beware of Nelson Honda if you go there, sales people are jerks. You have to be well prepared and negotiate tough!

Also, try contacting member, ESW. He works for a Honda dealership.

Default another quote...

thanks for the responses everyone. I just got another quote from Penske Honda, Ontario:

$31,059.00 _Plus Tax and Registration Fees

maybe the 2 hour drive will be worth it. I'm still waiting for a few responses so we'll see.

I can recommend Penski in Ontario. I purchased a 2001 CR-V from them and had a great experience. They matched the best deal I was able to find on the net for the car, plus all the accessories I'd found on various web sites. Plus they installed the accessories, which I would have had to do myself if I'd bought them separately. The whole negotiation took about 30 minutes.

I went there when I shopped for my Pilot, and probably would have bought from them except I wanted a white EX-L and they had none on the lot and none scheduled for arrival on their books.

O.K....I've e-mailed the Penske quote to a couple of other dealers and one mentioned that he could match it, but I'd have to wait about a week or so for one to come in. The other asked if I had a formal quote and a vin# and if I did, he would see what he could do.

I wanted to ask you all if a vin# and a formal quote is something I should be asking for if I do decide to go with someones particular quote. Especially in the case of Penske. I don't want to drive all the way out there and find in reality the pilot I wanted wasn't on the lot, and they really just wanted to get me out to the dealer.

On a side note, of these 3 accessories, what would you consider the toughest DIY:

1. fog lights
2. rearview camera
3. side steps

I'm considering having the dealer do 1 in order to give me more time for the others.

I really appreciate all your help out there. It's getting me closer to actually owning the car my family and I want.

Like I mentioned earlier, I bought my Pilot from Penske Honda. Everything was arranged via email and by phone. I worked with William Hall and K.C. Rogers. The quote I received was the price I paid, no funny business. I think they are a reputable dealer.

IMO the price quote form Penske is pretty good! About $1000 over invoice (according to Edmunds).

I doubt the dealer will give out VIN # without a deposit.

If you have the quote in writing (email or fax) then you should be ok. All the dealers that I have spoken to in SoCAL have quoted between $500 and $1000 over invoice.

I am in Northern CA and thinking of flying down to buy my Pilot.

Good Luck and let me know if you see any White EXL-RES out there

Maxxi,
Try Gardena Honda. I paid 31K out the door for a '04 NBP EX-L RES. Call and ask for Lee Mehlman, he's one of the internet sales managers.

$31K out the door? I assume you mean out the dorr with Tax and fees.

Invoice is $29,609 EXL-RES (according to Edmunds)

Add CA Sales Tax 8.25% = $2,442.74

So invoice + Sales tax is $32,051.74

Wow.. you paid $31k?

You got a heck of a deal there Stevie

My bad. I reviewed my paperwork (my wife did the actual buying) and forgot to add the price of the DVD system. Had we not purchased the RES our price would've been about $31,500 tax and license included. The bottom line is Gardena Honda has the best price for the Pilot. I got quotes from Rock, Norm Reeves, Scott Robinson, and Goudy. Sorry for the earlier misinformation.

Fog lights are not that tough to install. I would recommend doing it yourself. Rear view camera is more difficult, but again, not impossible. Side steps are the pretty easy. Here's a link to my DIY foglight installation.

And here is my DIY rear view camera installation.
