Navigation always on too, even in drive and neutral And park. The reverse lights do get brighter when actually in reverse.
This happened shortly after voice recognition went on the fritz and stopped working in a matter of a day or so all about a day after I declined a $150 battery at the dealer. I think I smelled some burning electrical components when I tried shutting off the car while in reverse with foot on brake and turning off car in neutral. (I really think I tried everything.) No luck. Sorry for the double post but I don't know where folks look around here. More description in electronics and audio. (Probably should have posted here.). 2007 Navigation System haywire - backup lights won't shut off killing battery Sent from my iPhone using AutoGuide.com App |

What year and how old is the battery?
If the battery is in poor condition, it WILL cause all kinds of strange things to happen, as you seem to be experiencing. FYI, the original battery has a 3 year unlimited mileage warranty. I would replace the battery first. If your out of warranty, don't worry, even a novice can change the battery. You need a 10 mm socket with some extensions, and a new battery of course. |

On the way to my shop to get a new battery. The problem disappeared. I had driven the car around the block to get the revs up, but I guess not quite as far as I had driven to the shop.
The problem never reappeared, and I replaced the battery. The electrical burning smell went away after Peaking on the way to get a new battery. Sorry I have no solution to report. I suspect something was shorting out, and the culprit finally fully cooked. Mouse? Sent from AutoGuide.com App |

I had this happen on another Japanese truck (Isuzu). The brake switch sits on the bottom of the brake pedal and is normally closed. There is a plastic piece that sits on the contact point of this switch that wore out over time leaving a dimple that could not hold the switch closed. The switch was opened up enough that it thought the brake was always depressed. I cut a razor blade to fit and epoxied to the receiving point of the switch
Not relevant, and most likely not your problem, but an example of some of the weird crap that happens on these things Last edited by robs; 02-06-2013 at 12:32 AM. |

The latest developments are that the navi system no longer does anything. No backup camera. No navi system at all. There is a slight backlight. My wife missed the backup camera. Sent from AutoGuide.com App |
