I have a Honda Pilot EX-L, 2007 with 99.5k miles on it.
It drives fine. There is a oil change scheduled at 101k mile. I am not sure, the last time, I spoke to the person who did the oil change, the brake-pads might need to be changed, but he didn't express urgency on it, so I have been ignoring it. About a month ago, the vehicle wouldn't start, and I jump started my car, it started smoothly, took it to Firestone and got a brand new battery. Ever since there has been no problems. Yesterday, 4 signs turned ON, on the dashboard. The ABS module, the VSA, VTM4 and another sign with the triangle with the "!" mark (like the icon). The vehicle drove fine, but the signs were persistent after turning off and on. I wonder what the issue is and what the repair should be. I read on the web, and from what I could infer, seems like the following options: 1. Brake fluid with brake pads (hence requiring a complete brake service) 2. Weak alternator 3. Problematic ABS Module 4. A faulty sensor 5. or something else. Any suggestions on what the problem could be or what should be my course of action, will be very helpful. Thanks. |

Many auto parts stores now have code readers that they loan out. That's your first step. I'm a little surprised your battery needed to be replaced. Some auto parts stores also have something to read your alternator output. It's probably okay, but the symptoms seem to point to an electrical problem.
And your brake pads (but not necessarily your rotors) are probably due for a replacement. It's a pretty easy DIY job.

I don't have the link for the shorted pin trouble check.
You might have a fault ABS sensor. Check on this forum to figure out which it is. In fact here it is, feeling generous .VTM light on 2003 Pilot And as far as changing the abs sensor it's a $25-30 part and you just follow the line from the hub to the sensor plug inside the engine bay. Very easy. |

Start with the cheap and easy stuff. Make sure the brake fluid reservoir is topped off. You never really need to add fluid unless you had a brake job or fluid flush and the shop didn't bleed everything correctly. The VSA is tied directly to and will disable itself when the brakes are low. Not sure how the VTM comes into play.

Check your VSA RSR fuse under the hood make sure you have a good connection. All those lights come on if that fuse blows, if they turned off after you recycled the engine I would make sure your fuse if seated correctly.
