Default Transmission Problems

2005 with 100,000
Been experiencing a chatter in the transmission. The dealer I recently purchased it from can't reproduce it. My independent mechanic can and said the transmission is going. At my insistence, the dealer replaced the fluid which was brown. I still have the chatter, it's a little better but still there. After much discussion, the dealer is giving me a 24,000 mile powertrain warranty. How long should I expect this transmission to go? If it lasts till summer, I will be dumping it. Sad to lose my faith in Honda.

If the fluid was brown, someone was not doing the required maintenance.

It needs to get changed 3 times till it looks and smells clean.

Agree with N_Jay, sounds like improper maintenance. Tranny failure is not common with the Pilot. Ours is still going strong at 150K, despite a radiator failure at 105K that allowed the tranny fluid/coolant to mix.

Hope you got a good price for that car if the timing belt hadn't been done.

Check the vtm4 fluid color to. That's another area that's important to look after.
