I can't find my service manual, so I'm hoping someone will know the answer to this.
I depressed my parking brake, and then released it. When I went to depress it again, it wouldn't stay down. Didn't make that ratcheting noise. Next day I found a spring on the floor. It's that's a bit unusual looking as in the middle it has a gap between the winds. I'm guessing that it has something to do with keeping the parking brake on, but I don't know how it attaches. Has anyone put one of these back or know how/where it attaches?

Unless it was incorrectly installed at the factory and popped out suspect the spring might need replacement.
You probably need to remove some of the plastic trim to reinstall.

The spring looks new - still got clean grease on it. I've probably used the parking brake less than a dozen times..
I do not like removing plastic. I'd rather not incurr some charge to get the dealer to put it back. If it's not a hard item to replace, perhaps they'll do it for free?

The guys hear at the NS Auto Mall are pretty good about it, if it's a little thing.
I tried looking up a parts list for the Pilot and it doesn't show a spring on the parking brake pedal assembly.

That spring is where the cables come together.
I am guessing what you found is from inside the peddle assemble and not made to be individually replaced.

I haven't checked yet, but with my luck it'll probably be a pain to put back.
