I bought the 2012 pilot last night. This morning when i tried to start it, it was clicking and wouldn't start. Does that sound like the battery? I'm waiting on a jumper box to try and start it. The key wasn't in the car at night and even if i left the door open on accident, do the lights on the interior have a timer to go off automatically after some time?
If it is the battery, what could have caused it to die overnight? I just got the car out of the dealership last night

Issue fixed!.... Lesson learned, do not setup Pilot wallpaper/usb music etc. in accessory mode. I remember trying to setup in accessory mode for about 15 minutes. It will eat up the crank up amps and SUV won't start. I had to jump start it. Connected the cables for 15 seconds and was up and running.

You should also give your battery some maintence too. Pull the large plastic caps off and check the water level. Fill each of the 6 cells with DISTILLED water (79 cents) to just below the plastic lid. Batteries use water throughout their life and this is normal. It will increase your batteries capacity and extend the life.
Once you get your battery sealed back up, check if you have any white corrosion on the termials. If you do (typical), dump some dry baking soda on it. Then pour a little water on and go to town with a toothbrush as it fizzles. Keep doing this again and again till all the bubbling and corrosion is gone. Then apply a thin film of dielectric grease over the dry terminals ($1 at Autozone). Your battery will thank you. ![]()

I'd bet your car has been sitting quite a bit on a lot before you bought it. Shame on the dealer for not fully charging the battery before delivery. (You might want to check your tire pressures too - my bet is that they're vastly overinflated. It is truly amazing how little PDI some dealers do on a new car.) The battery is probably marginal and may be suffering infant mortality aggravated by the sitting. It certainly needs a good charge (which you can do simply driving it for a couple hours) or you may need a new battery.
Nothing you can do for 15 minutes fooling around with the key in the accessory position can drain a properly-charged 60 AH battery. - Mark Last edited by whizmo; 12-01-2011 at 02:04 PM. |

Called American Honda in California for "customer service" assistance today! Son purchased new 2012 Pilot Touring a month ago. 2500 miles from home, at Disney World, pilot does not start! Given Reference number and assurance Honda would contact Florida dealer and dealer would get back to us. Waited most of day then called again. Spoke to manager at American. Was assured that he would contact dealer for service and call back! NO CALL! We had Honda for many years but did not consider due to service issues. Not happy with Honda!
