Angry Blown cylinder at 15k miles

My 2011 Pilot EX with 15,000 miles has a blown cylinder. Honda service is now taking the engine apart to repair. Has anyone else encountered (or even heard of) such a problem? Contacted customer service to request an extended warranty because I'm worried about what else will go wrong seeing that this major issue has already occured - they told me that what my regular warranty is for - Not happy with Honda at all right now.

It a happens.....and that IS what your warranty is for.

What you need to do is find out the extent of the damage and what the repairs were to the motor.

You should be fine once they get it fixed. If your not satisfied with the truck, sell it and get a different vehicle.

Not quite sure what a blown cylinder is....failed cylinder head gasket? Piston failure.....dunno.
What exactly failed?

agree with 94eg!:
not happy with the pilot, get a different car. i did. thankfully, i did not wait until i had a major issue. i still visit this site occasionally and read thread after thread of problems with this vehicle. for the record, i had a 2011 ex-l. good luck with your issues.

^agreed. but i just got fed up with a 35k dollar vehicle having problems that the dealer and honda refused to address and went a different route. the new vehicle i replaced the pilot with performs like a 35k vehicle should. luckily, i got a very good trade in deal, otherwise i would probably still have it and still going to the dealer every few weeks with the same problems.

$35k is the new $20k. At least it's heading that way...

You don't need all the cylinders anyway. ;-) Sorry to read about your engine. This could happen to any internal combustion engine made by any brand.

Personally I would ask about a new block and head. Then I would ask about the extended warranty ofcourse. As said you could just sell your car but I bet nobody would buy it with an engine rebuilt at 15k.

Don't let honda sell you on that used low-mile block crap, get a new one or speak to the general manager in your area.

I am shocked to hear this. I have a 09 Pilot LX with over 75K miles on it. I drive it constantly and have never had to do anything at all to it. Only regular maintenance - oil changes and such. Not a single problem.

So are we ever going to find out what a "blown cylinder" is?
