Default new owner of 06 EX-L/nav, questions.

Hi all, first post but have been lurking since June, before I bought the Pilot. Previously owned an 07 CR-V and a member member of HondaSUV and lurker on CRV-OG. The tribe got larger and we needed a bigger vehicle, loved the CR-V so we looked at Pilots. We purchased an 06 EX-L/nav with 61k miles on it. So far, I like it, (except for the gas mileage, but I knew that getting into this).

Anyway, enough of the niceties and down to business. I have searched the forums and still cannot find exactly what I'm looking for.

1) I hear a 'pop' or loud 'click' coming from the engine compartment when turning off the ignition, every time. Cannot pinpoint exactly where, but definitely the front of the vehicle. Any insight?

2) Moonroof does not seat all the way in the closed position. I can get it to seat manually by closing it, then using the tilt feature to line the gasket up with the roof. Other than that, it operates fine. No binding, strange noises, gasket looks good and doesn't hang up. I will say that I hear a loud squeak coming from it when driving over bumpy roads, (which is every rd in VT). No water intrusion yet, but winter is upon us in northern VT and I am concerned. Again, any ideas?

3) Loud 'pop' coming from subwoofer when turning car on. Funny thing is, I have all the sound pushed up front so I don't bass the dogs out of the cargo area and the baby out of the back seat. Considering disconnecting sub altogether anyway, but any thoughts on this pop?

4) Road noise...holy cow! Am I the only one, or is this the norm? Droning, loud, noise from rear. Wondering if it's the tires, (tread or balance). Putting snows on for the winter, those won't be any quieter. I do notice some vibration when driving and more when braking. I am doing front brakes soon, rear if needed, not sure if that could contribute. Also read thread about compliance bushing. Any thoughts?

Thanks for any insight you can provide.

1-i have the same noise on my '06, and the previous '06 i had did the exact same thing. not sure what it is, if its normal or not. i test drove another '06 and it did it too. i was going to wait and see if it became more evident to investigate.

2-seems like either the bolts may have come loose or it just needs an adjustment or a lube.

3-other posters on here have claimed the same thing, i believe it is an issue in the factory radio requiring replacement of the whole unit. type "subwoofer pop" in the search function and you will see lots of this same issue.

4-road noise on both pilots i have owned seems normal for an SUV, remember the pilot is heavy for its size(just my 2 cents). before the pilots i had a pathfinder and a ford escape. all had a decent amount of noise. an out of balanced tire might be the culprit. in my opinion the pilot is very sensitive to the road that you are driving on. a stretch of highway that i drive every day was quiet and smooth in my pathfinder, yet in both pilots that same small stretch makes weird noises.

ok.. thanks for the quick response 3rd row. Finally got to the shop. They said I picked up a real nice vehicle, not much needed other than maintenance. That's always good to hear. Ended up doing a trans flush and fill and the VTM-4 while it was in. They said the fluids looked a little burnt and 'goopey'.

road noise from rear was cupped tires, put my winters on, sounds WAY better, can't wait to put new summers on and quiet it down even more. I used the mounted snows off the 07 cr-v. The Pilot's computer won't recognize the cr-v sensors, any insight other than new sensors? Doesn't seem like there is any interference with anything, like VSA, with the TPMS light..(you could not turn off VSA on the cr-v with a TPMS light)

moonroof- they suspect a limit switch, they wouldn't touch it though, said the headliner needs to come down to fix it and referred me to a body shop. any insight on that?

regarding the pop from the engine compartment... they suspect a 'fuel check valve'.. said it sounded normal.

Going to need brakes all the way around in about a month or so, I suspected that.. any suggestions on pads and rotors? I live on a massive hill, 2200 feet of elevation gain in under 5 miles, I have decimated NAPA rotors on my cr-v on that hill.

thanks all.
