Default 03 Pilot Cruise control prob - cold weather?

Long time reader, 1st time poster...2003 Pilot EX with 188k miles on it.

Last winter I started having a problem with my cruise control. Here's the scenario:

Start out in the morning driving 6 miles of suburban highway (35-45 mph) to get to the interstate (not using cruise for this part).

Get on interstate, and the cruise will not come on. No dash light either. I would try all the buttons just to "work" the system. Sometimes the cruise would come on, but then it would kick back off after a second or two. Sometimes the resume would work after this happens, sometimes it would not, no real pattern to this. But the one pattern was the farther I went, the longer the cruise would stay on when it would come on. So by the time I'd get to work (about 15 min later), it's working fine.

I located the actuator module, and check the electrical connector, reseated it several times. No change in the problem.

I thought it maybe the rough winter roads were shaking the brake pedal. So I decide once the weather got a little warmer, I'd crawl under the dash to see about adjusting the switch on the brake pedal. But a funny thing happened - as the weather got warmer, the problem went away. Never had a problem through the summer and into fall.

But now the temps are dipping into the 40's in the AM, and my little annoyance has come back.

Seeing how the cruise actuator retails at just under $500.00, I'd thought I seek some opinions from the community before laying out a few bills.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Fixed problem by adjusting the stop light/cruise switch. Brake pedal seemed like it had a lot of play in it, so I set the switch against the stop on the pedal just until the pedal moved. Cruise is solid now. Not sure why problem was aggravated in the cold, but the proof is in the pudding....
