Default It's Fixed!

My dealership found the problem! The problem was the auto belt tensioner was causing the noise so they replaced that and the drive belt and the noise is gone! Maybe have them check that!

Default The Noise Is Back

When I got my car back, I thought it was fixed but now it's even louder! I just don't understand why it's doing it only when the AC is on. The humming noise is LOUD and very annoying. What steps should I take? Has anyone tried calling the manufacturer yet? Any luck?

Ngo- I have already gone through the steps to start Lemon Law procedures through the BBB Auto Line. I am set to go to arbitration March 6th in Clearwater FL. My dealership has made several attempts(over 5) to fix my vehicle. The last attempt was ordered through the HONDA manufacturers out of California. They by law, had their "last chance" to fix my vehicle. Well they had 10 days. They took my car in at 630 am, I got a call at 200pm to pick it up. Well guess what? It wasnt fixed! It's worse than ever. I called and talked to the HONDA manufacturer rep and he said well, there is nothing more Honda can do at this time. It is the "harmony" of those two parts (AC and Power stearing) working together...hahaha HARMONY! Love it! Anyway, he offered to make my next months car payment so that the ENGINEERS at HONDA would have more time to try and figure out what the "FIX" is. I declined and I am moving forward with my case. I will definately keep everyone posted. I sent you my info if you would like to contact me.

Is there a common thread to the Pilots experiencing this? 2WD or 4WD?

I was told by my dealership that HONDA told them it is more prevalent with the 2WD than 4WD. However I was contacted by someone who purchased a Touring Pilot and she is experiencing the same problem. The more work they do to them, the louder they get!

Default Same problem with side effect

Hi All,

I have the same problem on brand new Pilot 2012.
But except AC noise my car also do short annoying vibration when stop, I noticed that it usually happen more when I stop after turning the steering Wheel.

Can it be related to AC noise problem, should I ask dealer to exchange the Steering Wheel Container and Filter ?

Hi iggo, sorry to hear about your problem. My 2012 Touring did the same thing and it was fixed with replacement of the container and filter, as I've mentioned before. Hopefully, when you take it in, the service people will notice the same thing. I know that it hasn't worked for everyone, but in my case, it solved the problem. At least for now anyway.. LOL!!

Hi Peyton,

Thanks so much for you reply, just wanted to hear someone with these problem.
I understand that you solved the numbing noise but the question is did you have a short annoying vibration in the car after you stop on red light for example.
It's like the car vibrate with low RPM for 2 sec and go away. It happened randomly on my car and really really annoying

Did you have such vibrations ? Appreciate your kind answer.

Yes iggo, my vehicle's steering wheel had a very slight vibration while driving, whenever the a/c cycled on and off. As I said earlier, the fix did work for me, but I've read a couple of other people that it didn't work for. My problem was that the filter came dirty from the factory with some kind of gunk covering the filter, which made it difficult for the fluid to properly strain through it, hence the noise and vibrations. Good Luck!!

got that humming in ours again today, which i noticed not long after acquiring it in late October '11...needless to say, A/C hasn't been needed for a while...and my wife is the primary driver...i happened to be riding shotgun today...when we got home and parked, i realized i could hear the humming...asked my wife if the A/C was on, & she said yes...i cranked it back up, and sure enough the hum is still there...bout to take ours in for the 1st oil change, so it will be discussed with the service department

btw, ours is a 2012 2wd EX-L

thanks...i'm wondering if we might have the same issue as you...today we drove the Pilot to the mall...A/C was on, & i could hear the humming as it cycles on...i had never payed attention while turning the steering wheel, but i happened to remember someone else saying it changed sound when they did so...sure enough, you can hear the change in sound as the wheel is turned when the humming occurs...this definitely leads me to think it's something P/S related...oh, and i also noticed the slight vibration when the A/C cycles...not bad, but it's there....the humming is more noticeable than vibration....so anyway, i will update again once i know more

I have a 2012 EX-L 4WD w/Navi. I have the same problem with the humming noise. I replaced the power steering reservoir and screen, but that did nothing (it may even be a little worse). I plan on trying the auto belt tensioner and seeing what happens.
