Default auto windows 04 EX

My drivers side window no longer goes up or down automatically when quickly pressing the button.

At first I thought it was a fuse or something and then I started digging thru some threads and found it may be a weak battery issue and the auto feature needs to be re-learned.

How could the battery be the cause of the problem, and why does the auto feature need to be re-learned?

None of this makes sense to me.

When power us lost it forgets. Instructions on how to teach it again are in the owners manual.

Whether it makes sense to you or not is irrelevant, that's what happens to the auto down/up feature with a weak or dead battery.

I just followed the directions in the manual. After holding the window in the UP position for 2 seconds I heard/felt a little movement behind the door (mechanism resetting?). For the next 5 seconds or so I could not move my window up or down. Eventually it did respond, however the AUTO feature is still not working.

What next?

There shouldn't have been any sort of movement when you did the procedure. Did you try to reprogram it again?

I repeated the process three times yesterday with no success. However this morning my auto window feature miraculously worked. Gremlins?!?!?!!
