Default Resolution: Left courtesy map light doesn't always come on

Just recently the left map light courtesy doesn't always come on when you open the doors. I tried replacing the bulb but the issue still occurs.

I bought the extended warranty so hopefully it is covered should the whole unit need to be replaced.

Any other ideas are appreciated.

Went to the dealer yesterday and they said that the contacts in the back of the left base had a short of some sort. This is supposedly a common issue on Pilots and Accords.

Fix: They replaced the base 34999 with part no: 34404-SDA-A21 covered by my extended warranty.

So the dealer repair is just to replace the whole unit? Samething is happening on my pilot and I was reluctant to take it to the stealership. I'll make an appointment one day.

And I found this. I'll try it this weekend.

Again I would take it to the dealership but I hate waiting there for 3-4 hours (till the whole day sometimes) for minor repairs.

I need to replace a map light, how do I go about disassembling the map light unit?

I believe it's like two screws under the sunglass holder and two more under each lense (the one you press to turn the lights on).

I had the same issue with my driver side map light. I ended up taking apart the unit. I pulled the switch off and checked it for continuity which was ok, so I cleaned off the leads on the base and put the switch back on and, viola, light worked! Maybe I was just lucky, but maybe other people just have a bad connection as well and this is about the cheapest fix you could ask for
