My car is currently at the dealer to fix a few warranty-related issues. One of them, I'm not sure is an issue but it sure seems like it to me. Let me describe:
In the third row, center seat - you have to pull down the seat belt from the roof and first connect it to a belt receptacle then you can connect the lap belt as normal. Same deal in the 2nd row. The outbound driver's side passenger seats in the 2nd and 3rd row utilize a traditional/regular seat belt with a single seatbelt receptacle. Look at your pilot's 2nd row middle row seatbelt receptacles. Note how they are in relation to the outbound driver's side seatbelt receptacle. Now look at the same for the third row...it's likely different. In the second row with three people buckled in, no seatbelt will overlap with another. In the third row, the outbound driver's side passenger seat belt will overlap with the middle seatbelt. It seems in the third row, they installed the seatbelt receptacles in the incorrect order as I'd imagine you'd not want any seatbelt overlap? And why would it be different than the third row? I could be wrong here but it doesn't seam right to me. If I am right, there are a ton of Honda Pilots out there with this issue as all the new Pilots at the dealer had the seatbelt order like this in the third row. That's what makes me think I'm wrong but common sense says I'm right. I don't remember our 2004 pilot having this issue. Take a look at your 2nd and 3rd row seats/seatbelt receptacle order and let me know what you find. I will post what the dealer says. Thanks!

Weird. Do you think the anchor was rotated 180 degrees and installed incorrectly at the factory?

Is your pilot like this too? I even googled "third row honda pilot pictures" and every picture I could find (about 8) were just like mine. So maybe I'm wrong, but it doesn't seem right, does it?

As weird as it seems, this is normal (at least for Hondas and Acuras). I used to think the same thing, but every Honda and Acura I have ever owned (7), has the middle seat buckle NOT in the spot closet to the passenger. This seems to be the way they designed it, so that you can get a little more width room for your occupants.
So while it seems swapped, it is as intended. The outboard passenger buckle is closer to the middle passenger than the outboard passenger and the middle row anchor point is closer to the outboard passenger than the middle occupant. That's why even the anchor points on the floor are that way... they did NOT goof up on assembly. Hope that makes sense... |

Good to know it's not an issue as I originally thought.
