So, not even 500 miles on the Pilot and not off to a good start.
I was on my way into the service department so they could order the bottom cover trim piece of the steering wheel. It was missing on delivery. Ironicly on the way there the air bag light came on. So they bring it on and look at it. They said there was a code in the computer for the air bag inflater, but they ran a diagnostics and everything was ok. The airbag was connected, everything looked good, so they cleared the code. Well 3 days later and the airbag light is back on again. Anyone have any issues like this? Going back into service tomorrow.... Last edited by Offtrac; 05-13-2011 at 07:16 AM. |

With such a new car, something obviously isn't working within spec. Let the dealer figure it out.
Gently encourage them to talk with Honda about replacing the apparently defective part. It is after all a safety item, and safety is something Honda likes to "ACE" Honda Safety - Collision Compatibility

Apparently its a bad "clock spring" in the steering coloumn. They ordered the part and told me I could pick up the truck until it comes in. I told them no way I am driving it, they said no problem we have a nice 2 door civic for a loaner.
Not very happy.... To be continued. |

I wish I shared the same sentiments as you. I think this is completely unacceptable for a vehicle with less then 500 miles on it. I hope they fix it this time as well. If not they have one more shot and I will lemon law it.
As far as the loaner is concerned, I dont think I need to explain myself. I have loss of use of an SUV, you dont give me a compact to replace it. |

So what they tried to do was buff out the scratches. They were unsuccessful. They also tried touch up paint on 2 deep ones. Wrong color. The plastic bumper cover is also gouged and the right tail pipe cover is bent. They tried passing it off to me like that I said no way. Have to wait until Monday to talk with GM and service manager.
They were very remorseful and promise to get it fixed right.... the saga continues.... 454 miles on the odometer. |

That is lame. I wouldn't accept any bodywork on such a new vehicle! I'd ask the GM to give you another new one!

The way to get the most in these situations is to be nice but firm.
If you picked up a fully functioning car, it would be one thing, but it was ONLY in for service due to a FACTORY DEFECT. I would like to know why you needed a bottom cover trim piece of the steering wheel, makes me suspicious. Definitely time to get the GM and maybe the Honda factory rep involved.

Dropping off tomorrow to have the damage assessed by the body shop on site. GM promised a full size loaner in writing (email)
Hopefully I can come out "winning" from this fiasco. |

Update.
No return of the SRS light yet. Pilot has the rear bumper cover removed to be repainted. The rear bumper plastic piece is being replaced. New Exhaust tip on order. Driving an 08 Pilot loaner. |

Picked up my Pilot yesterday. Body work all complete, looks good. Drove it less then 60 miles, Airbag light back on today. Drove it straight to the dealer and left it there. Back in a loaner pilot for the weekend.
Honda engineers told the dealer, run diagnostics, clear code return car to customer. They havent heard anything like this before. Dealer called and asked to keep vehicle over the weekend to try and find something or anything wrong before returning it. Absolute and utter BS. Honda is on the top of my sh*T list. |
