Smile 2006 Pilot Rear License Plate Mounting

Hello all!

Needing some additional assistance in determining a fix for my 06 Pilot. I purchased this used and noticed the dealer mounted the rear plate with some drywall screws as there was no place to mount the plate. As you can see from the attached picture, the mounting holes for the plate are gone. I've noticed on older Pilots there are threaded holes that should be there which the lic. plate screws go into, Does anybody know if these can be purchased at the dealer or any fix for this issue? I just got my plates and rather not make new holes but fix it now. Thanks for any help you can offer.

Our 2003 left mount has broken off like that as well, since I still had the mounting post I just used alot of clear silicon caulking around the hole and mounting post, it seems to be holding its been a few months. I had meant that to be a temporary fix since its holding the plate on I haven't tried to find a better fix. Since you dont have the posts, maybe something like the plastic wall anchors that are used when you want to mount like a towel bar in drywall.

The license mount was welded metal nuts that had a tendency to rust out or freeze screws. I had to drill out a screw that was frozen to the nut, did torque the surface metal a bit. Try adding the plastic square mounts found at parts stores.

Also are those lower holes where the drywall screw went? Might I recommend you put touch-up paint on those areas (inside the trunk as well) so that it doesn't start rusting.

I had a mount bolt break off. I ended up taking off the rear hatch inner fairing, shield off and drilling a hole through the nut from the outside. I used bolts and a nut and lock washer on the inside. Worked great.
