Unhappy 2011 Pilot Lx will not start

I just recently purchased a brand new Pilot. I tried to start the car, but nothing would come on. I called dealership they stated its probably battery drained from light being on. I contacted tow company, they spent 30 minutes trying to jump start, with no luck. When I had the car dropped off, they informed me they would not be able to look at the car, because they were to be busy and to come back on Monday to pick up the car. When I asked for a loaner car, they called within 20 minutes to say it was probably a defective battery and that they have replaced battery and car is ready to go home. My question is it normal for a brand new battery to fail less than 1 month. I got the car with 7 miles on it, it died on me when it had 392 miles. The car was sitting on the driveway unused for only 2 days and there was no lights on to drain the battery. I am suspicious that they did no work on the car, because it seemed 20 minutes is a short time to figure out problem with a car. All the radio stations I had preset on my car where still the same. I thought when you get new battery, it would delete all that information. Any advice would be greatly appreciated

You got your vehicle back the same day, instead of waiting days for it. That's nice. As far as the battery, normally, it would last a lot longer than a month. But it's possible that you've gotten a defective one, as stated by the dealer. Also, when swapping out battery, the dealer should be able to save all your radio station presets and other system memories with temporary back up power. You can do the same the next time you want to change the battery yourself.

I was just suprised at how quickly they were able to fix the car. Considering I paid for the tow out of pocket, I didn't want the issue to happen again. This is a first that I heard of them being able to save car information, when replacing a battery... Guess the cars are getting more advanced.... Thanks for the reply....

Unhappy Yeap

The same happened to me three years ago. My Pilot was not among the rest at the dealership lot but at a storage lot across the street so I was told that it hadn't been started or test driven at all so the battery had most likely drained.

It was recharged to show it to me. Finalized the sale and drove it home and parked it at home. I wanted to show it off to family within 10 minutes of parking but the battery was dead! I called the dealer and since it was a Sunday they didn't come out until Monday to replace the battery with a new one. They of course took care of resetting everything and I haven't had a problem since then even after two blizzards in 2010! And yes they came out to my home since I'm only a couple of miles from the dealership.

If you were unable to jumpstart your car then I highly doubt it was a battery problem.
Just keep an eye on it for the meantime.

Don't understand your comment.

If the battery developed a bad cell (it happens from time to time) then it will fail usually within the first month or so of usage. If there is a bad cell, which is what your experience sounds like, then, jumping will not work.
