Default Hood Sensor Question (Pic)

I was changing the air filter in my wife 2006 Honda Pilot when I broke off the below piece. It appears to be some sort of sensor to detect if the hood is closed or not.

It hasn't thrown a code or anything, and I am not worried about it, as I have no problem telling if the hood is closed before driving, and it would require my wife actually opening the hood for her to encounter any issues.

I'm inclined to just let it go, but thought I would post a pic and see if anyone has had a similar issue, and if it may or may not have lasting consequences.

Thanks for the help!

Probably not a problem but I'd suggest replacing it. Mind you I'm very particular about my rides. My wife on the other hand couldn't care less about stuff like that, so long as the vehicle starts and gets her from point A to B.

I'm very particular about my ride (Wranlger) as well.

But, i'm leaning toward not replacing it if not needed, since my wife is the same; A to B, with leather, sunroof, and butt warmer.

Doing a bit more research, it may be an alarm sensor, and we don't have an alarm...

I think you might be right. Took a look at mine and I definitely don't have anything like that near the air filter.
