hello all --
just wanted to share an experience i had today. the car is going to the dealership tomorrow. dallas texas is getting some winter weather - we had freezing rain ice up the roads last night and temps around 20F today. i was driving home from work and when i got on the highway, the VSA, ABS, and traction lights came on. i pulled off and stopped at a parking lot, turned off the car for a minute and then turned on the car - the lights stayed on. i did a quick test in the parking lot and was able to verify that the the ABS and traction control were not working. since traffic was sparse, i decided to continue driving it home and while in transit, the lights went away. i took my exit off the highway and tested the car again -- the ABS worked. before i got home, the lights came back on again, so i made a detour to the honda dealership (3 miles away) only to find that they decided to close up shop early due to bad weather. with no other option, I drove home with the car -- and as i got into the neighborhood, the lights went off again -- another test, the ABS and traction control are working again. the car is going to the dealership tomorrow morning. i hope they figure out what is wrong with the car -- this is too dangerous, who knows when it is going to go out? luckily the problem didnt pop up when i was needing to use them. has anyone had this issue before? additional note -- i just got new tires the day before (michelin latitude, standard size) and have driven over 50 miles on them already, so i dont think the new tires are related to the issue. also, the car battery is pretty new (summer 2010) i'll post what the dealership finds out. t

normal? when you have slippery conditions and the VSC/trac is working doesn't it blink(light up) and disappears when it has gained control of the car?

I suspect he had a temporary shutdown of the system. I don't see it as dangerous, more like driving a car from the 80s without ABS/VSA etc.
Don't bother going to the dealer unless all the lights are on. You'll just waste your $$$.

its normal when the VSA flashes during times of no traction, but it stayed on (along with ABS and traction) for an extended period of time, when the car was not slipping and even after pulling off and coming to a stop in the parking lot.
the dealership found that the left driver side wheel speed sensor was loose and had thrown a code. t
