Default 2005 pilot overheating

i have a 2005 pilot thats overheating. i live in minnesota and its -13 below and this is the first time that this has happened. ive been through cold winters before with her and have never had this problem. i did test the rad hoses and the top hose is super hot and the bottom hose is cold. you guys think its the thermostat? any info is appreciated. thanks

It certainly sounds like a coolant circulation problem.

The thermostat is the easiest part to diagnose so I would start there.

Good Luck

changed out the thermostat and all seems to be fine again. although i must say that it was the most troublesome thermostat change that i have ever encountered.

Sounds like 1) thermostat, but 2) could be frozen, thus, blocking flow. Have you had antifreeze tested to see what temp its good for?
