My 2005 pilot @ 71K, whenever I start( insert key up to ON position) and turn the key to start the engine, I normally hear a clicking sound on my left side fuse panel? (close to the foot brake area) and it wont engage to start. Normally I wait untill all the lights on my console panel to go off and then turn the key to start the engine. Is this normal? shouldn't it be that you need not to wait for all the lights on your console panel to go off before you start, especially when you're in a hurry? or is there some electrical parts that is wearing off- a relay or something? I checked for codes but nothing came out, all green. Thanks- anybody had this before?

The click is likely a relay, perhaps part of the interlock to ensure you are in P or N before allowing you to start your pilot.
Are you having any shifter issues? Its rare for the ignition switch to go bad but its possible.

Thanks for the insight: about shifting issues- not at all, shift is smooth to any gear/drive. Any info regarding what does that ignition relay looks like, I'd like to check it.
Forgot to mention, this clicking issue happens when the ambient temp is 100F+, normally that's what we get here in Cali desert. but now even when it's 85F, I still get to turn the key twice just to start my pilot, because of that click-click-click sound. thank anyway! |

ICHU,
This sounds similar to reported problems with loose battery terminals. Yeah, I know it sounds weird, and I couldn't believe tightening the terminals solved the problem We lived with it for a couple of months, and it got fixed sort of by accident when the battery was disconnected to have it checked out of the vehicle. Worth a try.
