Default Need help with broken plastic trim on seat track

Hi, we somehow broke the plastic piece covering the side of the seat track on both the driver's side front and middle seats (see pictures). The driver's seat looks kind of involved since it has the seat controls on the side. We have a 2003 Pilot, by the way. No idea if these pieces are still available or not. Hopefully they replaced them with something less cheap in the newer Pilots.

Same thing happened to my 03, driver's seat. Picked up the piece at Honda and installed it myself. Remove the trim by removing the 3 (I think 3) screws that secure it. You will then have to remove the electric switches for the controls, but before you do that you have to remove the plastic controls from outside of the trim, gently pull them off with your fingers, or a screw driver if you need a little leverage. Install the switch housing in the new trim and reinstall. 10 - 20 minute job, cheers

Go to the parts section of the Majestic Honda website. Dig in to find the parts page you need complete with part numbers and prices!

I just spend a few bucks at my friendly local independent hardware store to fix mine. I don't remember the exact parts, but it involved some nylon spacers, some washers and some bolts. The nylon spacers went into the hole or "cone" where the bolt goes to give some support, then a washer, then a longer bolt to go through all that to the threaded hole in the frame.

You'll have to play around with the sizes, or if you give me a day or three, I can undo mine and make a list for you. Maybe even take a photo or two.

It's holding strong so far, and it's probably been a year or so since I did it. And now I try to slide in and out in such a way as to not put so much downward pressure on the side of the seat and that trim piece.

Thanks guys, especially Matt! I have seen Manchester's web site before, but finding the right diagram is baffling to me. Thanks for the help.

By the way, the middle seat cover in the color saddle is $62!!!! Glad I have gray. lol

Hey onu2002, I think I would like to take this approach to fix it. Any pointers you can give me would be appreciated. I'll have to order the piece for the middle seat since the plastic is cracked, but the front should be fixable. Thanks!

I did this repair about a year ago and it is still solid.

See attached sketch and prior post.

Here's what I did -- it's very simple -- same for both holes:

#12 x 1-1/2" panhead sheetmetal screw
1/4" SAE flat washer
1/2" OD, 0.257" ID, 1" long nylon spacer

Not quite as elegant as belundy's method, but pretty good if you don't want to deal with making a tapered dowel. I suppose you could also use a number of shorter spacers with varying ODs.

I'm pretty sure I first tried a bolt with the same threads as OEM, but it just wouldn't go in for some reason, so I ended up with the sheetmetal screws.

It figures! After I posted earlier, my wife told me days later she had popped off the front side trim when it caught on her dress.
I'll try your fix,
thanks onu2002

This was apparently a weak point on the '03. I had mine replaced under warranty fairly early in the game.
