Angry How to Remove Driver's Exterior Door Handle

Just got a pilot and I need to paint the drivers door. I can't figure out how to remove the exterior door handle. I've pulled the inner pannel, but can't figure out how to get one of the bolts out as it is blocked by the lock cylinder. I have ordered a repair manual, but it's not in yet. Any help? Ideas?

Thx

For the 03, don't know your year sofor the 03 it says this, giving it to you in steps of order directly from the book:

1) Remove the door panel and plastic cover
2) Raise the glass fully
3) Remove the bolt at the bottom of door, then remove the center lower channel withe center lower glass run channel by pulling it downward
4) rEMOVE THE SCREW AND RELEASE THE HOOK, THEN REMOVE THE LOCK ROD PROTECTOR BY DETACHING THE CLIP
5) Disconnect the outer handle rod and cylinder rod
6) release the retainner clip with a hook shaped tool. Remove the lock cylinder
7) remove the screw, then the lock cylinder and the switch
8) disconnect the cylinder switch connector and detach the harness clips and remove the cylinder switch harness
9) remove the maintenance seal and remove the bolt, then remove the cylinder protector
10) remove the bolt then remove the spacer
11) While pulling the outer handle, remove the handle from the holes in the door panel.
12) Install handle in the reverse order of removal. Also when reinstalling make sure the harness for the switch is routed properly, the connector is plugged properly and each rod is connected securely, etc.

Smile

Thanks,

I finally figured out the retainer clip. Unless I knew it was hiding underneath the lock cylinder, I would never have found it. I could barley see it lying on the ground looking up in the door.
