dustin08, Is your Pilot 2WD or 4WD? I'm just curious because there was no way to remove the rear drive side bolt on my 4WD without dropping the subframe. There are rear coolant/AC lines in the way.

Its 4wd, 2wd wasn't available until the later years.

It is possible, it just takes some persistence and patience. Your setup is the same as mine, I'm sure. Remove the driver side wheel, get a 14mm wrench, and crawl under. Instead of approaching the bolt directly from the driver's side, once your under the Pilot you can reach it from the other side. There is slightly more room.

A socket and ratchet with a knuckle may work also from what I've read.

OK -thanks. I'll give it a try when I get some time. I thought maybe your arm had an extra elbow or wrist :-).

When you say ratchet with a knuckle, do you mean a U-joint? Did you use a 3/8" ratchet? Did you use any extensions with the ratchet? I want to duplicate what you did because I tried several combinations and gave up in utter failure after about an hour.

I only used a 14mm wrench, the closed end. A wratchet and u-joint/knuckle may work.

I used another wrench as an extension to the 14mm wrench to break the bolt loose, as my 14mm wrench is pretty short. After that, it was relatively easy going, but time consuming.

I finally got around to tackling this today. For the rear bolt on the drivers side, a 14mm gear wrench was my best friend for about an hour. I approached it from the other side as suggested. I could only get 2 clicks of the ratchet head with each movement but it eventually came out. I also used PB Blaster and some light taps with a hammer to break up the rust holding the bolt tight. I replaced all 4 bolts with new ones and put a little anit-seaze on the threads in case I have to do this again in the future.

After I swapped the sway bar bushings, no more clunks over bumps :-)

got noise on my 05 with 86k on it, dealer said I needed new inner tie rods.. I've ordered them but still haven't found a spot to rent the needed tool here in Montreal. also, what are you guys using to put the boot clamps on? I bought oem replacement inner rods, new boots, clamps, etc. I asked another shop his opinion on my inner rods, he said they seem good.. but as I've got chattering, may as well change them..

I just used black plastic tie wraps to hold the boots in place. I specifically used black because the white ones degrade in sunlight. I know there is not as much sunlight hitting the underside of the car but I didn't want to take any chances.

For the innter tie-rod removal, I used loaner tool from Auto Zone. I believe O'Reily Auto Parts also loans out tools if you have them where you live.
