Default Broken Mirror Replacement

The outside passenger (right) mirror fell to the ground in its holder unbroken when the garage door frame was hit while backing out. The part that was broken was the assembly that held the mirror in place and the paint was gouged on the housing. Quote from repair shop was almost $300, part ordered and replaced myself was $140.00
I tried to document the steps with photos.

Default trim piece off

This shows what is under the trim piece. The trim does require some force up and out, trying to pivot away from the door. The clips are metal and are strong. At the bottom of the trim there are plastic hooks built into the trim so do not pull straight away from glass. The white clip holding the wiring needs squeezed at top and bottom to release connector.

Default 3 bolts to remove

This shows the 3 bolts to remove circled in green. The black circled nut does not need to be removed. HOLD mirror on outside before removing last bolt. Also, before starting lower window.

Did you replace the whole mirror assembly or just the internal parts that's holding the mirror? It's kind of expensive if you just replace the internal parts that's broken. Base from Majestic Honda's website, the actuator sub assembly(figure #3) cost $38.41. The mirror sub-assembly(figure #2) cost $12.26.

Since a mirror is glass, why not ask your insurance to pay for it. In Mass we have no deductible

Uh, I think the glass was not broken, from my reading of the post. In any event, you've given the perfect lead-in for N_Jay to come on down and do the zero-deductible comprehensive boogie!

The glass did not break. Yes, I replaced the entire assembly because the red paint on the outside was gouged through to base metal. I can't have my wife driving a Pilot with a deep scratch now could I.

I hope you kept the old side mirror assembly. You maybe able to salvage some usable parts for future use.

Looking at the picture at the top of this page, couldn['t you just have glued to mirror back on, I can't see any damage in the photo other than the mirror is gone.
