Although designed by Nissan for Airstream, I am seriously considering purchasing this Airstream basecamp when it becomes available up here in CANADA.

It features a fold out tent designed by Kelty to increase space & accommodation.

Cool Starcraft Spaceliner (2402)

Towing with our Pilot is not a problem. We have a 2000 Starcraft Spaceliner (2006 model number is 2402). This is a wider pop-up almost 8' wide so you need an extended mirror.

Default Quick Question: tow Integra OK?

I need to tow a car, 92 Integra, from Fresno to LA (about 225 miles) through the Grapevine. I'm thinking of using my Pilot. My Pilot has the factory tow hitch installed. Is it ok for Pilot to be able to do this or do I need to get a truck for it?

I towed a car from Fresno to LA through the Grapevine with my Pilot without any issues. Right up the hill without having to slow to a crawl, and the temp gauge never budged.

The listed weight for a '63 Karmann Ghia is 2000lbs. The listed weight for a '92 Integra varies depending on coupe/sedan and trim, but it's between 2550 and 2750. I'm sure you'll do fine, just leave yourself more stopping room if you get into traffic.

Default Towing a Jayco pop up

So does everyone in this thread have the Honda Tow package with the extra coolers for the engine? We are looking at getting a pop up and trying to understand if they are necessary. We are looking at the Jayco 1206. Anyone have any experience with this camper?

Thanks,
Tim

Default Re: Towing a Jayco pop up

If you read the manual it will tell you the towing capacity without the package but i believe it is only 1000 lbs and I don't think many popups are that light (if any). For the occassional use of a utility trailer or such around town you may get away without the coolers but I would'nt risk longer trip usage with anything substantial behind me without them.

When you look at the cost of the trailer hitch, the coolers are not much extra and far cheaper than an accident or burning out a major system.

1963 Avion T-20.
Has a claimed dry weight of around 2700 lbs.

I didnt intend to buy the Pilot as a tow vehicle, since we got a F250 diesel for that kind of thing.

But since the silver paint on the pilot matches the anodized aluminium skin on the trailer, and given the outlandish price of deisel this summer; I might have to swing by a truck scale on our next camping trip to see if we cram more than 1000 lb of stuff in the the Avion before I instal the hitch, coolers, wiring and brake controller in the Pilot.

For two seasons I towed a Funfinder X 189FBS with our 2003 Pilot. This spring, we upgraded the tow vehicle to a 2007 Tundra, and just recently upgraded the trailer to a Jayco 23K. Anyway, I came across this picture tonight of the last time the Funfinder was towed by the Pilot, when we parked it last fall.
