Default Air Deflector vs. Mask(Bra)

I have read in great detail the existing threads and galleries on both deflectors and masks(bras). (Liked the photo of the clear bra supplied by kemo) I am still struggling though with which to purchase. Can those of you who have purchased these describe why you did, what you really like and what you don't like about it? Please include things like washing/waxing/wind noise. I don't want to really drill into my Pilot if I can help it. My big concern is that living in Michigan (State Motto: "We try to build good cars, not good roads"), I already have chips on the front of the hood, and would like to prevent future chipping. Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

I had a bra on my old Accord. It saved the front of my car from a lot of wear and tear while I had it. I was told that if you leave the bra on the car and it repeatedly gets wet and dry and soforth that your paint underneath the bra becomes clouded or discolored. Whether or not that's true, I don't know because I always took it off after getting wet. Anyway, that's my .02.

I have a deflector on my Pilot. I had a nose mask on my 98 Accord. While I liked the look, it was kind of a pain taking off when wet, making sure it was positioned right so as not to rub on the paint while driving. I had a bra on my first new car a 84 Trans Am (ouch), I was not quite as careful, and it marked the paint in some areas, and left a bit of a haze on the paint.....that's why I chose a deflector...

I have a half nose mask but like the others said, it's needs too much maintenance.

There's another kind of accessory that's like a mask, the clear bra. Here's a couple of threads that talks about them, the first one had a poll.

For maximum protection some guys use Rhino linings sprayed on where the clear bra would be installed.

Full nosemask, bug deflector or clear bra? thead

Here's a pic of the clear bra of member jazcar.

I just installed the full nose mask this weekend. It is not simple to take off or install. It covers the front well, fits fairly well and is well made. It looks like it will do an extensive job of protecting the front and hood. I do not look forward to taking it off to wash the car and after prolonged exposure to rain.

Money no object I would do the clear bra. The rock guard does not completly protect the front. Pa roads are as bad as Michigan. All my cars are tore up from the cinders they put down here.

I like the Air Deflector for the truck. IMHO it is just a better look and worked super on my Tacoma. I didn't go for the Half- or Full-mask even though I like the looks. The mask actually saved my Accord several times but the maintenance of the Nose masks get to be a little much.

I have used bras on Jeeps, Durango's and will get one for my '12 Pilot. While they are all a hassel to take off and put on, I have only used them on long trips where stones, bugs, etc..are sure to be there. I also make sure I have a good wax on the hood at all times and have never had a paint issue. In the long haul, if you want the front end to look as good as it can, use a bra.

I just had the clear bra installed on my 12' pilot, no muss and fuss putting something on or taking it off. Has anyone heard of using a bug deflector with a clear bra?

How much did it cost? I've been really interested in having it done to my '12.

Paid $595, Saw prices from $495 to $649. Had the front bumper, hood, headlights, front of fenders and the rear sills. Very happy with the results, limited lifetime warranty.
