So I didn't want to pay $800 at the dealer so I told them no and that I would find the parts myself and install it.
But I am confused, the parts that I find say only for 2009-2011 LX models. I have a 2012 EXL, will it not fit? the part number in question is 08L02-SZA-110 and 08-l04-sza-110. Some dealers list the first number for the kit, but others say that it only comes with roof rails and not cross bars. HElP! thanks |

I ordered my rails from there and had a dealer install them. They shouldn't charge more than an hour to install them. The crossbars on the other hand, you can definitely install those yourself. I went with aftermarket Thule bars though.

I just installed the roof rails on mine (Part# 08L02-SZA-110A). Sauer Grapes is right about cutting the roof line molding. Be aware though that molding envelopes a thin metal sheet lining along the whole length, so a simple razor isn't going to do the trick. I used a small miter saw to cut mine at two lengths each after taking the proper measurements. Also, the plastic cover at the hinges of the rear hatch door are a bit of a pain to remove. You'll need to close down the door about 80% to get room to wiggle the covers off. You may want to mask off that area with masking tape to prevent scratches. Once you take the two plastic covers off, you'll have to drill two holes and then cut a section of it out on each cover for clearance for one of the anchor bolts on the rail for each side. I had a dremel for that job. It took about 45 minutes for me to complete.

I bought the Touring so all I needed was the crossbars but here is a good site to get what you need. They also have Honda's installation instructions you can print. It looks like the parts are on sale today! Buy Honda Pilot Accessories - Discount Genuine Honda Accessories

These are the rails you need Roof Rails (2012-2013) - 08L02-SZA-110A - Exterior. These are the crossbars you need Crossbars 08L04-SZA-110 - 08L04-SZA-110 - Exterior. This site also had the best prices I could find. I installed them about 3 weeks ago using these directions
http://www.bernardiparts.com/Images/...s_AII46396.pdf. You will not need the air saw or the plastic trim tool. I used my chop saw to cut the drip rails and a 6in coping saw to cut the trim pieces. Pretty easy install. If you have any mechanical sense I would definitely tackle this yourself, the dealership will charge at least a $150 to install these. Also, dont be too concerned with being exactly precise with your cuts on the drip rails or the trim pieces. I did not realize this until the end, when I fitted that the roof rails themselves, they will overlap and hide any rough edges/uneven cuts. Could have turned an hour install into about 30 mins. Good luck! |

I just mounted mine on my 2013, got them from ebay (original part) for $165.00 shipped, it only took around 30 minutes to install, it is very easy, just be sure you have a dremmel a t30 torx socket and a 5/8 drill bit. Taking off the plastic trim will take you 5 minutes tops, very easy to take off. Measuring and cutting will take you about 10 minutes, and 15 to 20 minutes to install the rails.
