Default Wanting to buy roof rails and crossbars for my '12 exl....confused

So I didn't want to pay $800 at the dealer so I told them no and that I would find the parts myself and install it.

But I am confused, the parts that I find say only for 2009-2011 LX models. I have a 2012 EXL, will it not fit? the part number in question is 08L02-SZA-110 and 08-l04-sza-110. Some dealers list the first number for the kit, but others say that it only comes with roof rails and not cross bars.

HElP!

thanks

Just order from Bernardi parts and you'll get what you need. FYI though, you'll have to cut the rubber molding where the roof rails attach.

I ordered my rails from there and had a dealer install them. They shouldn't charge more than an hour to install them.

The crossbars on the other hand, you can definitely install those yourself. I went with aftermarket Thule bars though.

I went with aftermarket crossbars as well. In my opinion, they look better, higher quality, and more functional. But that could just be me. LOL.

I just installed the roof rails on mine (Part# 08L02-SZA-110A). Sauer Grapes is right about cutting the roof line molding. Be aware though that molding envelopes a thin metal sheet lining along the whole length, so a simple razor isn't going to do the trick. I used a small miter saw to cut mine at two lengths each after taking the proper measurements. Also, the plastic cover at the hinges of the rear hatch door are a bit of a pain to remove. You'll need to close down the door about 80% to get room to wiggle the covers off. You may want to mask off that area with masking tape to prevent scratches. Once you take the two plastic covers off, you'll have to drill two holes and then cut a section of it out on each cover for clearance for one of the anchor bolts on the rail for each side. I had a dremel for that job. It took about 45 minutes for me to complete.

I bought the Touring so all I needed was the crossbars but here is a good site to get what you need. They also have Honda's installation instructions you can print. It looks like the parts are on sale today! Buy Honda Pilot Accessories - Discount Genuine Honda Accessories

These are the rails you need Roof Rails (2012-2013) - 08L02-SZA-110A - Exterior. These are the crossbars you need Crossbars 08L04-SZA-110 - 08L04-SZA-110 - Exterior. This site also had the best prices I could find. I installed them about 3 weeks ago using these directions
http://www.bernardiparts.com/Images/...s_AII46396.pdf. You will not need the air saw or the plastic trim tool. I used my chop saw to cut the drip rails and a 6in coping saw to cut the trim pieces. Pretty easy install. If you have any mechanical sense I would definitely tackle this yourself, the dealership will charge at least a $150 to install these. Also, dont be too concerned with being exactly precise with your cuts on the drip rails or the trim pieces. I did not realize this until the end, when I fitted that the roof rails themselves, they will overlap and hide any rough edges/uneven cuts. Could have turned an hour install into about 30 mins. Good luck!

This past weekend I just installed the 2012-13 roof rails P/N: 08L02-SZA-110A on my 2010 Pilot LX, they fit perfectly. I would recommend using the instructions for the 2012 or 2013 only because it has the measurements in inches and millimeters where as the older instructions only use the metrics system and if you use a standard measuring tape you will have to covert. The measurements allow for some play so you just need to be close. All in all it takes about 45 minutes to an hour once you have your work area setup. I am 6'2" so it was easy for me to reach over but shorter people will need to stand on a stool or something. Make sure you have a good T30 torx before you start and it states a 10mm drill bit but again there is plenty of play and I used a 3/8's drill bit and it will never be a problem at the only thing the hole in to cover is for is a tab to stick thru since when you cut the back cover you remove the clip that holds it in place so the rail has a plastic tab that goes thru and keeps the cover from coming off. If you are looking to put rails on a 2009-11 and do not want the cross bars or you can get them separately for less as well them I would highly recommend the 2012-13 roof rail. The rails can be ordered online for around $140-$150 and shipping from $20 to $30 so much cheaper then the local dealership. I used a trim kit remover (nylon) and it fits perfectly in the track once you remove the rail to pull out the old clips with ease, did not even damage them but they do give new ones in the rail kit.

I just mounted mine on my 2013, got them from ebay (original part) for $165.00 shipped, it only took around 30 minutes to install, it is very easy, just be sure you have a dremmel a t30 torx socket and a 5/8 drill bit. Taking off the plastic trim will take you 5 minutes tops, very easy to take off. Measuring and cutting will take you about 10 minutes, and 15 to 20 minutes to install the rails.
