Default Pilot 2004 headlights

I am interested in upgrading my headlights (Pilot 2004). At the moment I just have the standard factory installed healights. A friend suggested I try Phillips Xtreme Power XP bulbs.

1. I am not sure what type of bulb I should be getting - they classify them as H1, H7, 9006 etc. What do I need for the Pilot 2004? Also, do I need to buy seperate bulbs for low and high beam or does one bulb serve for both purposes. Sorry for the stupid questions - I just don't know.

2. I have been looking at doing a HID conversion too. The kits are reasonably priced, but I was told that if you do a HID conversion and your vehicle does not have HID (projector) headlight housings, you end up blinding uncoming traffic if you convert to HID lights using the standard housing. Any suggestions?

Thanks for your help.

Pete

Don't bother with any fancy bulbs in the headlight. Fancy and expensive break quickly . 5000 miles in my expèrience. One of my bulbs is still the original installed by the factory 120k ago. As for type either pull one out, check the owners manual or check at the local auto parts store. H4

do the HID conversion. ddmtuning has killer prices and lifetime warranty. i have order around 7 or 8 kits over the years and no problems yet. after installing please aim your headlights then you wont blind traffic.

Yes, an HID conversion is a bad idea. Unless your actually retrofitting a complete HID projector inside your stock headlight housing, you will definitely be blinding oncomming traffic. The light output for an HID bulb is not the same direction & location as the correct Halogen bulb. This causes the light to scatter from your reflector housing in every direction and right into peoples eyes.

Plus, if your standard Halogen bulbs are dual element (for high & low beams), you loose your high-beams. With a bi-xenon projector retrofit, you can still have high beams if you wire up the mechanical device that moves the cutt-off.

Another option is if there were ever HID headlights on a later model of your generation pilot, you can swap the entire headlight assemblies. I'm not sure if the later models had HIDs though.

This is the BEST mod we can do to our Pilot. I'm still the one and only guy who's done it !!

Headlights/retrofitting???

Bi-xenon FX-R projectors, 4300k oem philips D2S bulbs, 35watt ballasts, E46 shrouds.. the best mod I've done on it so far! Oh and by the way, it looks factory (not cheesy ricer look), and no I don't blind anyone. Never been flashed in the 12 months I've been driving with them.
