so i recently bought a grill combo for my 05 pilot from a retailer online who calls his company "the grill guy" its for the upper grill and lower holes which expose the rad now it does go over the oem grill but for it to look proper and flush it must be applied from secured from behind the oem grill... so my question is how do i remove the grill?? i see there's many clips, clamps and screws all over when i pop the hood and some of them are hard to get off and well frankly i don't want to break anything, has anyone ever done this before?

Probably the easiest way to do it is to actually remove the front bumper.
Follow these instructions which describe removing the bumper and installing tranny coolers. http://www.collegehillshonda.com/ins...lot/psfatf.pdf

you don't have to actually remove the grill. i bought a billet grille that fits over my existed top grill and a bottom piece that fits the hole in the bottom bumper.
remove the cover over the radiator. lift the hood and you will see a plastic piece that runs across the top of the radiator and headlights, its held on by a bunch of plastic clips. the clips pop off easily with a flat head screwdriver. you can easily now access the back of the grill and hold the brackets in place while bolting on the grille piece. i tightened the bolts by hand first to make sure the grille was in position and then used a socket to tighten them securely. the bottom bumper is really easy. while holding the grille piece in place in front of the bumper, reach behind with your other hand to hand tighten the bolts for the brackets. once they are in place, you can then use a mini socket wrench or small hand wrench to tighten the bolts more securely. i installed both pieces in less than 45 mins. without having to remove the grille or bumper. simple bolt on. it helps a lot if you have small hands! you may want to enlist the help of a kid or a woman to hold the bolts/brackets in place on the bottom bumper piece. the holes in the bumper are small!

Well I've taken my grille on my 08 and I didn't need to take off my front bumper. Firs you have to take off the plastic price that covers the radiator and the latch for the hood . It's all held in by clips. Then once that's removed there should be like 3 or 4 clips on the top and about 4 or 5 clips that are under the grille behind it. (which by the way are the most hardest clips to ever take off cause you can't even see what your doing) lol

^^^ And that's exactly why you pull the whole bumper cover off. It's super easy and way better than "guessing" where clips are.
IIRC, after you take the top rad cover off, there are only two screws, four bolts, and 6-8 more clips holding it on. Beyond that, you need to disconnect the foglights. If it takes you more than 1/2 an hour to do this, I'd be surprised. Once it's off, you'll obviously have much better access to the grille. |

DO NOT REMOVE BUMPER i took my grill off to paint it. first step is to remove the black upper splash guard which semi covers your rad cap and hood latch (this is best done with a can opener to remove the inside stem of the clip) once all clips are removed there is room for your had to remove X4 small screws on all four corners of the grill. be sure to remove another X2 screws holding your HONDA badge on for it helps secure the front grill plate. once the hole unit is loosen the help of a flat head screw driver can pop the spring clips in the inner portion of the grill and oh she comes!
