Default where did you buy your roof rack w/crossbars?

Seems some sites listed here ask for >$240 for the roof rack itself. I'm thinking to buy from eBay but figured I should check with you guys.

Also, I wonder if I should just get the roof rack then get an aftermarket crossbar. Any advice?

Thanks!

If I had to do it again I'd go aftermarket crossbars like Yakima that are lockable. Go Honda on the rack from one of the many reputable parts dealers out there.

I also have EX-L so the roof rack was included. I had the dealer "throw in" the crossbars into the deal, so no harm done.
The cross bars offered from Yakima and Thule seem to be a very good option - plus they have so many ways of using them to strap down bikes, boards, boats. Pretty cool.

The question you should ask yourself - is what are you going to actually be using the rack for? All I need is a way to strap down surfboards. I put velcro pads over the cross bars and use a tie-down. Simple and I'm happy with the result.

To be honest the simple tube or square cross bars offered by yakima and thule seem to make more sense than the eliptical "aero" bars made by Honda, IMHO.

Can some people post some pictures. Got a 2008 pilot yesterday and we are trying to figure out what we need as far as crossbars go and stuff.

I have an 05 LX and bought a used oem Honda LX accessory roof rack/crossbar set up off Ebay for about $100. I then installed a Surco safari roof basket on it. Works perfectly for me.

Buy it used on ebay. It's going to get dirty anyway, so why not save 50%? Just figure out what you need on the Yakima site and then do a search for those components on ebay, or Craig's List even.

I've bought a number of Yakima and Thule items this way and never had a problem. People are pretty accurate in describing the condition of their stuff.

Does anyone know if there are Chrome or stainless racks available for the 2011 touring? The black ones are just plain and Honda missed the boat on this if not offered. Thanks for any help.

I'm looking for chrome racks for a 2011 Touring as well. I think chrome racks and door handles should have been standard on the Touring models as they are for the higher trims on the Toyota Highlander and GMC Acadia.

Has anybody tried the "OEM-Style" replica cross bars (03-08)? They go for $85 vs $150 on ebay. Kinda a big savings if they really are identical to the real deal.

Our local Honda dealer wanted more than $200 for the OEM crossbars, so I bought the OEMs (black only) for our 2011 Pilot Touring from Bernardi, for $152 delivered (Honda Roof Rack - Cross Bars Only Pilot - Bernardi Honda Parts and Accessories). They came quick and fit well.

Default Did you install in OEM crossbars yourself? (2011 Pilot)

I purchased my crossbars from a dealer in California and had them shipped to me which saved me over 20% than buying directly from my dealer even with their parts discount. My question is the installation looks easy, but is that truly the case or should I just have my dealer install them to be sure.

The directions I pulled off the internet are essentially 3 steps over two pages...seems easy enough.

Thanks for the replies in advance!

Todd
