PA15-HON2 iPod adapter install
This was a birthday present for my wife, and she just loves the thing “no more messing with cd’s.” I’m very pleased with the sound quality of the unit, more importantly so is she. I elected to hook in to the XM radio port, so now XM1 is the iPod, XM2 still functions normally. The install was done on a 2006 Pilot EXL, non NAV type radio. The iPod it’s self sits in the center console forward of the cup holders in the covered area with a couple feet of the cord coiled up, had drill a ¾” hole to get cord through the console, put a little RTV around to prevent an small items from falling out around the cord area. The adapter is mounted in the upper right hand side of the dash behind the glove box; it does not take up any room in the glove box and is still accessible if I need to mess with the dip switches or hook up to the AUX jack. The install was not that bad, without a doubt removing the trim panels were the worst part, I’m pretty sure that it would have been worse if I did not purchase a trim removal kit from Amazon. Let face it we do these projects our self’s to save some money, take some of the savings and pick up the right tool for the job. You can always loan them out or eBay them when you are done with your project. Plan a head…before you do your install, pick up a few trim clips Honda part 90666-S84-A01, or order them on line, trust me you will lose more than two in the course of the install! When you put things back together, getting the trim back on above the steering wheel is a pain, but doable without taking the trim apart around the steering wheel itself. Took about 10 minutes of jockeying the trim around, then it just fit…do not force it, or any other trim piece for that matter, because they are relativity fragile, and they cannot be cheap to replace. The entire install took about 1 ½ hours from start to finish, that included taking with the neighbor for a while. Below are some links that may help. Just installed this on my 07 EX-L with navi today. Install was a little easier for me as I only had to remove the lower trims and radio. The only trouble I had was trying to stuff all the wires back there and to remount the radio. I haven't had a chance to really play around with the unit, but it seems to work well.

Thanks for the DIY.
Harbor Freight stores carry the trim removal tools for half the price if you have a store near you.
